Before filling jam jars with jam, it's important to properly prepare them to ensure the jam stays fresh and safe to eat. Start by washing the jars and lids in hot, soapy water and then rinsing them thoroughly. Next, sterilize the jars and lids by placing them in a large pot of boiling water for 10 minutes. After sterilizing, remove the jars and lids from the water and let them air dry on a clean towel. Once dry, the jars are ready to be filled with jam. **
